1999-2004, Elected to Uva Provincial Council and was appointed as the minister for                            Tamil  Education, Hindu Culture, Estate Infrastructure & Tourism

2004-2006 Elected to Parliament, Appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Committees of Parliament, 2006-2009 , Appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education
